On June 9, 2023, Lobin Co. launched the Lodging Data Dashboard, a web-based application that provides detailed data on the supply, demand, and revenue of lodging establishments in Korea, segmented by year, region, and type. The dashboard covers data from 2005 to 2024 and allows users to filter information by Korea’s 17 metro-markets as well as 11 lodging types including hotels, resort condos, yeogwans, residential lodgings, rural minbaks, and urban minbaks.
In addition to basic data such as the number of establishments, number of rooms, number of rooms available, number of guests, number of rooms occupied, and room revenue, the Lodging Data Dashboard also provides detailed analytical indicators including average age, average number of rooms, average number of operating days, guests per occupied room, occupancy rate, average daily rate, and revenue per available room. Notably, the number of guests, rooms occupied, and room revenue are further broken down by origin and purpose of travel, significantly enhancing the dashboard’s practical usability.
Harim Lee, CPO of Lobin Co., emphasized, “There are a variety of public statistics related to the lodging industry in Korea, but differences in scope and methodology limit their practical application. In some cases, complete enumeration and sample survey statistics for the same metric lead to conflicting conclusions, causing confusion. We hope that the Lodging Data Dashboard will help resolve such inconsistencies.”
Since January 2023, Lobin Co. has been building a database of Korean lodging establishments to provide market-wide visibility in an increasingly competitive environment where boundaries between lodging types are blurring. After completing the 2024 data update, the web app was released. The Lodging Data Dashboard can be accessed through its dedicated website, where users can select a subscription period on a monthly basis and pay the corresponding usage fee.
