Korea
  • Mandarin Oriental Seoul: Hanwha has secured the world-renowned luxury hotel brand Mandarin Oriental as the anchor for the North Seoul Station redevelopment project. The property will be an ultra-luxury hotel with 128 rooms, scheduled to open in 2030. It is positioned as both a landmark of the development and a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing investment appeal.
  • Lotte Hotels Japan Established: Lotte Hotels has formed a joint venture with Lotte Holdings Japan to establish Lotte Hotels Japan, creating a foothold for its hotel business in the Japanese market. The move is intended to expand brand recognition and portfolio synergies between the two countries while improving operational efficiency and local market adaptability.
APAC
  • Conrad Resort Danang Development: Asia Estate, a subsidiary of Bithumb, is developing the 120-room Conrad Resort Danang in Vietnam. With a total project cost of approximately USD 35.64 million, the resort is targeted to open in 2029. However, financial difficulties mean that continued capital support from parent company Bithumb A is expected to be unavoidable.
  • JTB Acquires Northstar Travel: Japan’s largest travel agency, JTB, is acquiring Northstar Travel Group from EagleTree Capital. Northstar owns major B2B travel media and event platforms such as Travel Weekly and Business Travel News. JTB plans to operate it as an independent subsidiary while strengthening its presence in Asia and enhancing its information services capabilities.
Americas
  • Marriott Hotel Sale in Washington, D.C.: Host Hotels & Resorts has sold the 459-room Washington D.C. Metro Center Marriott to T2 Hospitality for approximately USD 128 million. The property had undergone renovations, and the transaction reflects asset reallocation and financial strategy execution despite the high-interest-rate environment.
  • U.S. Weekly Hotel Performance: For the week of August 24–30, 2025, U.S. hotel RevPAR rebounded slightly by 0.2% after three weeks of decline. ADR rose 1%, while occupancy fell by 0.5 percentage points, marking the 10th consecutive weekly drop. RevPAR rose by more than 9% in New York, Orlando, and Chicago due to vacation demand, while international markets showed generally stronger recovery momentum.
Europe
  • Village Hotels Acquires Sheffield Hotel: Village Hotel Club, under Blackstone, has acquired the former 129-room DoubleTree Sheffield Park. The property, which closed in July 2025, will undergo a multi-million-pound renovation and is scheduled to reopen in 2026. Earlier this year, Village Hotels also acquired the 122-room Crowne Plaza Reading, which is set to reopen in late 2025 after renovation.
  • European Hotel Markets July 2025: In July 2025, European hotel occupancy rose 1.3 percentage points year-over-year, but RevPAR fell by 2.3%. While midscale hotel RevPAR rebounded, ADR fell overall by -4%, with the economy segment down sharply at -5.4%. By country, Spain and Greece recorded RevPAR growth of 3.3% and 15.4%, respectively, while Germany and France showed limited recovery potential.
