  • Shinsegae and Aman to Develop Aman Seoul Mixed-Use Complex: Shinsegae Property, in partnership with Switzerland’s Aman, announced plans to develop Aman Seoul, a mixed-use complex in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Spanning approximately 70,000 sqm of gross floor area across 38 storeys above ground and eight basement levels, it will comprise a luxury hotel, 49 branded residences, retail and cultural spaces, and a members-only Aman Club. Shinsegae will oversee overall planning and development, while Aman will handle design and operations, with Aman running the hotel and residences under a long-term management agreement upon completion. The move follows the joint venture established by Shinsegae Property and OKO Group this past July.
  • ARA Korea to Acquire Courtyard by Marriott Suwon: ARA Korea has signed an agreement to acquire the 288-key Courtyard by Marriott Suwon in Gwanggyo, Suwon, from Hanwha for approximately KRW 100 billion, or about KRW 347 million per key. Opened in 2020, the hotel comprises roughly 24,033 sqm of gross floor area across 21 storeys above ground and five basement levels, and forms part of the Suwon MICE complex alongside the Suwon Convention Center and Galleria Department Store Gwanggyo. Located near Samsung Digital City and the semiconductor clusters of southern Gyeonggi Province, it draws corporate, MICE and leisure demand. The transaction is expected to close by the end of September and marks ARA Korea’s second hotel investment in South Korea.

  • IHG and ALAND to Bring Staybridge Suites to Australia: IHG has signed a Master Development Agreement with Australian developer ALAND to introduce the extended-stay brand Staybridge Suites to the Australian market for the first time. The agreement grants ALAND development rights for at least 15 hotels totaling a minimum of 2,000 keys, and franchise agreements have also been signed for the first two properties—the 130-key Staybridge Suites Sydney Parramatta and the 112-key Staybridge Suites Sydney Leppington. Both hotels are located in Greater Western Sydney and will be operated by Signature Hotel Management.
  • Pacifica and Marriott to Develop Japan’s First Westin Resort: Pacifica Hotels has signed a franchise agreement with Marriott to develop the Westin Hokkaido Furano Resort in Furano, Hokkaido. It will be Japan’s first Westin resort and Hokkaido’s first Westin-branded hotel. The development is led by Pacifica Hotels and its subsidiary Furano Hospitality, targeting the Hokkaido resort market, where inbound demand remains robust. The project illustrates the recent trend of global brands expanding beyond Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto into regional resort destinations.

  • Procaccianti and Rugger Acquire Charleston Harbor Resort: Procaccianti Companies and joint venture partner Rugger Capital have acquired the 217-key waterfront Charleston Harbor Resort in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. American Financial Group was the seller, and Procaccianti’s hospitality affiliate TPG Hotels & Resorts will manage the property. The adjacent Charleston Harbor Marina, which has more than 450 slips, was separately acquired, owned and operated by Suntex Marinas.
  • Braemar Faces Control Fight Over Self-Managed Transition: A governance dispute continues at Braemar Hotels & Resorts, a US luxury hotel REIT. After concluding a strategic review this past June, Braemar decided to terminate its advisory agreement with Ashford Inc. and become a self-managed REIT rather than sell the company, and it plans to appoint five new independent directors to that end. Its largest shareholder, Al Shams Investments, has pushed back, announcing that it intends to nominate its own candidates for all five board seats ahead of the annual shareholder meeting on November 13.

  • Sansiri Acquires Lake Como Edition: Sansiri Capital, the hotel investment arm of Thailand’s Sansiri, has acquired the 148-key, five-star Lake Como Edition in Italy from US-based Bain Capital and London-based Omnam Group for more than EUR 200 million, or about EUR 1.4 million per key. Bain and Omnam acquired the former Hotel Britannia Excelsior in 2021 and, after an extensive renovation that reduced the room count from 285 to 148, reopened it under the Edition brand in March 2026. The deal marks an Asian investor’s acquisition of a European trophy asset.
  • J&T Finance and Dosfield Acquire Prague Marriott: The asset-management arm of Czech financial group J&T Finance Group, through its Prime Hotel Assets Fund and together with Czech asset manager Dosfield Group, has acquired the 416-key, four-star Prague Marriott Hotel from Dutch firm PH Properties for approximately EUR 200 million. The acquisition also includes the adjacent 10,500-sqm Millenium Plaza mixed-use property and a 460-space underground carpark. Located in the heart of Prague’s Old Town, the hotel will continue to be operated by Marriott International under a long-term management agreement.
