  • Lotte Partners with Millennium: Lotte Hotels & Resorts of Korea and Millennium Hotels & Resorts of Singapore have announced a global partnership to share membership benefits. Through this alliance, customers of both companies will enjoy mutual preferential rates and perks, and the partnership is expected to generate synergies in international markets.
APAC
  • IHCL Acquires Remaining Stake in ELEL Hotels: IHCL, a subsidiary of India’s Tata Group, has acquired Nanda Family’s remaining stake of 330 thousand shares in ELEL Hotels from for approximately INR 1.65 billion, securing full 100% ownership.
  • Sands to Invest $8 Billion in Singapore: Las Vegas Sands plans to invest USD 8 billion in Singapore’s Marina Bay to develop an ultra-luxury hotel tower with 570 suites and a 15,000-seat entertainment arena.
Americas
  • Largest AC Hotel in North America Opens: Marriott International has opened the largest AC Hotel in North America, located in Arlington, Virginia. This move is expected to strengthen the brand’s presence by adding a new accommodation option in Washington D.C. metro area.
  • CMBS Market Trends: According to KBRA’s June report, the overall delinquency rate in the U.S. CMBS market has slightly declined to 7.3%. However, delinquency rate in the office sector continue to rise to 11.1%, and that in the lodging sector also rose marginally to 6.8%.
Europe
  • Marriott Completes Acquisition of CitizenM: Marriott International has finalized its USD 355 million acquisition of CitizenM, a lifestyle hotel brand based in the Netherlands. With this acquisition, Marriott adds 37 CitizenM hotels located in key cities across the U.S., Europe, and Asia to its portfolio, significantly strengthening its position in the lifestyle segment.

※ In Korea, general & residential accommodations are included while rural & urban minbaks are excluded. Comparable countries are selected based upon availability of lodging GDP statistics for all types of accommodations.
